Chabad of Tallahassee and FSU Mission Statement

There is a general lack of purpose and meaning amongst our young Jewish men and women in our country and even more so among students at universities.

The degradation of community is made all the more challenging through our overreliance on connection via social media. People are starving for a real connection to something more permanent as well as more human interaction.

Chabad of Tallahassee and FSU helps guide and focus these young minds at FSU by having a strong, reliant presence on campus. We seek those who are in need of spiritual empowerment, direction, and guidance. For the past 25 years, we at Chabad of FSU have been ever-present for our student body, bringing over 500 students through our doors each year. We provide the timeless teachings of the Torah to help them through their struggle with stress, anxiety, and social pressures. We offer dozens of programs focused on their Jewish heritage by providing a safe place for Shabbat, classes, holiday celebrations, religious services, and kosher meals daily.

Recent study has shown that a more connected and Jewish-identified student body also enables us to better defend the State of Israel against the ongoing attacks present on today’s college campuses. We have taken a few hundred students to Israel and provided the proper resources to fight for Israel by bringing pro-Israeli speakers to campus, taking students to AIPAC conferences, and teaching classes about Israel.

We are a unique Campus Chabad house because of our connection to the Florida State Government. Strategically located in the center of Florida’s state politics - Tallahassee, we are also a force at Florida’s Capital. Chabad of Tallahassee and FSU brings to the attention of our State’s leadership the importance of being a steadfast supporter of the state’s Jewish communities and ongoing partnership with Israel.

We meet regularly with Florida’s top government elected officials to bring to their attention the plight of the Jewish community within our state, and how to help not only Jewish citizens here but also those in Israel.
